Pray for Orlando

Looked at my phone and saw a missed call from my best guy friend,  Jecoby, at 4 something in the morning.  It was kind of weird to get a call from him that late at night so I knew it had to be important.

On the news there are reports of a mass shooting in Orlando at Pulse, a LGBT night club.

I got so scared that Jecoby or one of his friends had been hurt.  I called him to see if him and his friends were okay. He told me that he was in that area and almost went to that club, but didn’t.  I was so relieved.  He also told me some of his friends planned on going but didn’t.

I went to UCF in Orlando and a lot friends that still live there.  It is bittersweet.  Happy to hear they are okay.  Sad to hear that their community has been shaken.

It is so sad to hear how many lives were lost for no fault of their own.  Young people just enjoying the company of their friends that won’t be able to see their loved ones again, because of someone else’s hate.

Terrorists are targeting people that really can’t defend themselves.  They go after people at cafes and churches instead of fighting armed forces in actual combat.  Why ruin so many people’s lives?  Why terrorize people that have already been through so much?  Why go after innocent people?

Everyone has a gay or lesbian family member, friend or co-worker.  They are people too.  They should be able to the same rights as everyone else.  They should be able to go to work,   enjoy the company of their friends and live their lives to the fullest.  They should be able to experience joy without the fear of being attacked.

This is not about politics.  This is about humanity.

No matter the reasoning, ethnicity or religion of the attacker acts of terror are WRONG.

Please pray for Orlando.

Safari/Apple SCAM

Hi There,

I went to Pinterest.com as I usually do, but this time I got the message below:

Screen Shot 2016-06-11 at 2.17.37 PM.png

Being that I have a lot of pictures and documents on my laptop I didn’t want to loose them so I called the number.  I was skeptical, because it seemed a little too convenient that out of all the times I go to this site a day this is the time that has “suspicious activity.”

The phone went to a few different automated prompts before  a live person answered. The gentleman that answered the phone’s name is David.  He never asked for my computer ID as I was expecting.  I asked if he was with Apple and  he said he was an authorized fixer, but I couldn’t make out the company name.

I followed his initial instructions of force quitting all the programs except finder.  The red flag came when he had me re-open Safari and go to a Citrix Screen Sharing session.  I asked why he needed to see my screen.  He said it was so that he could see the issue and fix it for me.

I asked if this would cost money and he said yes.  I started cussing him out and saying that that is why I asked him why he needed to see my screen.  He said he had to disconnect because I was being unprofessional.  I hung up.

I got off the stopped the screen sharing as soon as I could and started writing this post.

I don’t want anyone to get scammed.  He didn’t get my account info or a payment from me, but other people might just hand over the information.

It is so scary that this activity is border-line legal.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Tutorial: How to make SnapChat Stories into Vlog Posts

Hi There!

There are about 6 steps involved in making your Snapchat stories into vlogs.

Step 1:  Plan a fun adventure!

Step 2: Capture as much of the traveling or event as you can in snaps.  You can save each one along the way OR you can save it at the end of the event/day with the save snap story option.

*Make sure all the snaps were actually saved in one file.  It will be a video file with more than 10 seconds*

Step 3: Upload the video to your computer. You can email the file to yourself, which takes a lifetime OR you can plug your phone up with the USB cord.

For an iPhone hook it up to a MAC for the quickest upload.  Never tried to upload my iPhone files to a PC.

For an Android hook it up to a PC for the quickest upload. You could also take out the SD card and upload the files that way.  To upload the files to a MAC you will have to have the compatibility software downloaded first.

Step 4:  Put the file on your desktop.  This will make it easy to find to upload to Youtube and other social media outlets.  It may have a different first image than in the folder, but should say .m4v as the file extension.

Step 5: Upload video to Youtube, Facebook or Wherever else.

For Youtube: Log into your Youtube account and click Upload.  It will give you the option to drag and drop files.  Drag your file from the desktop over into the section.

It may take a second to see the file actually loading.

While it is processing you can write the Title, Description and tags.

After that, you are free to click publish OR you can do the optional step number 6.

For Facebook:  Log into your account.  Go to new status and click Picture/Video.  Facebook doesn’t have a time limit on videos so you can upload it as is.  iPhone video may look blurry on youtube though.

Step 6: Add Custom Thumbnail and Edit Video.

Take an image from the adventure and make it a thumbnail.  This will entice people to click and watch.  I used picmonkey to make this:

Once you have your thumbnail you can click on the custom thumbnail option at the far right of thumbnails. It takes a few seconds to load.  When you are done you can click publish.

After you click publish it should look like this:

You could edit the video by adding additional clips, photos and music in the Video Manager or Creator Studio.

Let me know if this was helpful!
